A  FAMILY SAVED

(Gen. 7:1)

INTRO.

  1. Noah’s family saved because of Noah!—Power of fatherhood.
  2. “Come thou, and all thy house…”
  3. Acts 11:14—“..words whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.”
  4. Study of Noah as a father who saved his home—Is quite a task today if you save only your house (home)!  Not save from foreclosure, etc, but from the fate of judgment.
  5. Things about Noah that puts this in perspective—Great qualities of Noah.

  1. THREE QUALITIES IN GENESIS 6:9.
    1. “A just man.”  Righteous.  Right in his relationships.
    1. Prov. 20:7—Brings blessing to his children—“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”
    1. Perfect in his generations.” Blameless, integrity.
    • a.  Blameless in his married life—Eph. 5:25-29;  Sticks only with his wife.

      1. Blameless toward his children.
      2. Blameless in the community.
      3. Consistent in character—Not hypocrite—The same each day.
    1. Walked with God.”
      1. In a time when most walked contrary with God.  Need to show your children real guts in a time of moral and spiritual compromise!
      2. Moral courage!
      3. Phil. 2:15—stands out in the community as a light in darkness!
      4. An example for his family—1 Cor. 11:1.
      5. Example for:
      6. Church attendance—Heb. 10:25.
      7. Bible study—Psa. 119:97—“O how love I thy law; it is my…”
      8. Prayer.
      9. Respect for others—Rom. 12:10—“Be kindly affectioned…in honor preferring..”
      10. Thankful man—Gen. 8:20—Burnt offering.

  1. OTHER QUALITIES OF NOAH.
    1. Obedience—Gen. 6:22.
    1. Heb. 11:7.
    1. Lived by faith.
    1. Accepted God’s word—Not just heard it!
    2. Obeyed God—“Prepared an ark.”
    3. Saved his house.
    4. Condemned the world—Stood above the world in character, etc.
    5. Heir of righteousness.

CONC.

  1. Psa. 26:1-- Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.
  2. Acts 10:2—Devout, feared God with all his house, gave much alms prayed to God always.
  3. Acts 16:34—Believing in God with all his house.
  4. Acts 18:8—Believed in God with all his house.
  5. Josh. 24:14, 15—“…as for me and my house…”
