SIGNS OF THE TIMES

SIGNS OF THE TIMES

(Matt. 16:3).

 

  1. TO UNDERSTAND JESUS’ MEANING OF “SIGNS OF THE TIMES” IS TO HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING GOD’S PURPOSE IN REDEMPTION.

 

  1. PHARISEES, SADDUCEES WANTED A SIGN FROM HEAVEN.

(1)  1 Cor. 1:22—Common for them.

(2)  Jesus rebuked them—v. 4.

 

  1. THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES WERE CLEAR!

(1)  Scepter had departed—Gen. 49:10—Israel lost right of capital punishment, etc.

(2)  Daniel’s weeks were expiring—Dan. 9:24ff—Could figure it out!

(3)  Their king had come—Matt. 21:4-5;  Zech. 9:9; Jn. 12:12-16.

(4)  The time the fourth kingdom had arrived—Dan. 2:44.

(5)  John’s announcement—Jn. 1:29;  5:33-35.

(6)  The works of Jesus—Jn. 5:36; 10:37, 38.

  1. Matt. 11:1-6.

 

  1. THESE TIMES HAD BEEN PROPHESIED.

(1)  Acts 3:24-26.

(2)  Heb. 1:1, 2 .

(3)  Mk. 1:14, 15—How clear can you be?!

 

  1. THESE TIMES ARE HIS TIMES!

(1)  1 Pet. 1:20—“these last times”—1 Cor. 10:11.

(2)  Heb. 9:9, 10—Time of reformation.

(3)  Rom. 3:26—The time of righteousness in Christ.

(4)  The “due time”:

  1. Gal. 4:4.
  2. Rom. 5:6—Fulfilled Dan. 9:24!
  3. 1 Tim. 2:6.

(5)  Titus 1:2, 3—The time of preaching.

(6)  Eph. 1:10—Fulness of times.

 

  1. TWO SCRIPTURES HELP US FOCUS ON THIS:

(1)  Matt. 26:18—“My time is at hand.”

(2)  Jn. 17:1—“The hour is come.”

  1. Necessity of realizing ours is not just one religion among many!—Don’t be fooled by modern tolerance thinkers!
